I've opened v6, v7, v8, and of course v9 files with v10. If you have any older 
ones, zip and email a sample to me and I can test it
out.

FM10 should be able to open *any* .fm file, regardless of vintage. 
"Back-saving" from FM10 in a form that can be opened by older versions of 
FrameMaker is another matter, though...
