x-refs in structured FM v7.2

Question: when inserting an x-ref to another document, are any of you finding 
that you must have the source file open vs. having a copy open (someone else 
has 
the source file open) in order to get the x-ref to "stick"? Any and all 
comments 
are welcomed.
