That worked! You rock! For a workaround, I stuck the file in a book and used Leximations Pub Tools to change my variables.

We observed that if you "undock" the Add/Edit Variable dialog and have it float somewhere else on the desktop, you can edit the variable. Otherwise that dialog remains unresponsive.
