Hello, Thanks for the reply. Oxygen does indeed look promising. What would be the general method of enabling our engineers (mostly electrical designers and technicians with no knowledge of xml, or time to get under the hood) to author topics with Oxygen? How do I get Oxygen to see/utilize the template and EDD I'm using in Framemaker? What template files of mine do they need access to?
Thanks again. Hi Steve As Scott said, a "free XML editor" is fine to create basic DITA topics. However, what will happen if they need to update the topics which you have edited in FrameMaker, using DITA features such as conrefs, keyrefs, inline elements etc.? Instead, you may want to use a good, professional XML editor like oXygen XML Author, which is almost free (starting at $349). It gives you plenty of bang for the buck and comes with some very nice transforms (to WebHelp ePub etc.) out-of-the-box. We use it in combination with DITA-FMx for authoring and publishing DITA 1.1 content. Cheers -- Yves Barbion www.scripto.nu _____ No virus found in this message.
