If I'm saying something everybody already knows, my apologies, but I found this also in Frame 9 and finally discovered that when Frame stops responding to F8 or F9, first hit either one, then mouse-click in the bottom of the window in the area where the character or paragraph tag would appear. In Frame 9 that causes Frame to basically go, "Oh, OK, oops, sorry about that" and it works again. Not that it's excusable....
