Further update: I downloaded, installed, and ran HuntOverrides and fixed all paragraph overrides. A very nice tool! (http://www.freeframers.org/freeware/cud/).
However, it did not solve the problem. I suppose there must be other overrides, such as tweaked text frames, still in play. I don't know how to identify them, nor does creating a new document based on the template eliminate them. --Nancy
