Yup. Updating Java fixed this. My Char Palette is now back where it belongs.

FYI: I did not uninstall my FM9 preferences. Until I tried to access the Char Palette, everything was working fine. No glitches or unexplained occurrences. I don't have TOOLBOX or Finalyser and as the Char Palette served my limited requirements well, I just want it back. As you say the Char Palette is a Java Palette, I just checked the Oracle website and I was behind in Java updates. I'm installing the update now and hopefully that will fix my problem.
