Hi Stephen

On your master page, draw a text frame in the footer where you want the
variable to go. When it asks what kind of frame, make it a background text
frame. Then you can just put the variable in that frame like normal.

Cheers
Rebecca

Assuming that the part number variable is in a paragraph by itself, insert a
cross reference marker in the paragraph, then cross reference to the marker
from wherever you need the part number to appear.

Subject: Follow up to "Adding File Name Variable to Template" question

Using FM10/dita 1.2 templates to output pdf.
Currently, there is a user set variable (called "pubPartNumber) on my cover
page.fm, on the inside of the front cover. How can I pick up that variable, and
have it appear in the footer of all of my body pages?
Thanks again.
