Hi to all:

Earlier today I spoke with someone looking for a full time editor with
FrameMaker skills who can work onsite in Montreal, Quebec,
Canada.

The goal is to fine someone who is comfortable in Structured FrameMaker and can
really work to clean up content to standardize
appearance where needed, but also perform tasks like pull content from a 9 page
spread down to 8, or clean up a table so that the
material represented "makes sense" or tweak the content for grammar. There are
some specific things needed, but my take on this job
is that if you are able to work with FrameMaker, can navigate a structured
document, and have a good eye/brain for grammar that
would be great.

I would guess that you need to know how to follow a style guide (and when to
deviate from it) as well as know how to work
comfortably with structured files in Frame. Longer term it sounds like this
could be a really neat job as ebooks and online
publishing are also considerations. If this sounds like it's of interest, then
please contact Jennifer. An excerpt from her email
follows.

Personally, it sounds fun, and I know the client and Montreal, and can tell you
it's a good mix for someone who really wants a solid
and stable bit of work for years to come. I'm not going to move out there, but
if this is of interest, then drop Jennifer a quick
email.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help her out with this.

Bernard

The ideal candidate will have experience with structured Framemaker and
formatting templates with EDD. A knowledge of Single
Sourcing will be considered a definite asset.

Primary responsibilities will be editing and formatting content to ensure it
meets company standards using Framemaker, make PDF
files, tweaking existing templates and publishing dummy books.

This is a long term contract with our aerospace client in Ville St. Laurent.
There is also the potential of it becoming a perm
position.
