You can disagree if you want, but those of us with heavy-duty FrameMaker experience know that, in general, more RAM means less FrameMaker crashes. With the size (and number) of applications increasing, and the low cost of RAM, there is no reason not to run with at least 8 GB.
It may not be a low amount of RAM causing the crashes, but this should be one of the first places to look.
