Hi Judy,

don't forget to update the FM book after applying your conditional settings.

You should always set the pagination properties from within the book file (as
recommended procedure) and not from within individual files. Be sure to agree
with overriding the individual file settings when updating the book.

Do you make use of Master Page Mappings? It can help anyway to do the 'update
and generate' command twice.

If you still get unwanted empty pages you may check for empty lines or
conditional text markers that still are on the 'empty' page. Also check your
paragraph settings. If any paragraph uses a local 'start new page' setting it
will keep starting a new page, even if the contents is conditionalized. If your
heading has a 'start at right page' setting it will always start on a right
page, even if you set the document (from within the book file) to 'start at
next available page' and create an empty left page before.

Most, if not all, cases of unwanted pagination are a result of one or more
conflicting settings.

Some people suggested strange objects or left over empty frames: that can occur
if you put frames or graphic objects directly on the page. Best practice is
always use anchored frames. These will move with the text and hide if made
conditional.
