Thanks to all who responded so quickly! I'll retain everyone's ideas for the future. I intend to reinstall my OS "real soon now" <tm>, so of course I'll reinstall everything else at that time. Reinstalling Frame is probably overkill and might modify your setup, which you probably don't want to do at this point.
