Hi CarolineYes, you can do it; it is the only sensible setting for a character 
tag which may be applied to a variety of different fonts.
I'm working from memory here, so the exact names may vary slightly.
In your document, open the character designer, then click outside the text 
frame (this is so that you don't modify something you don't want to). In the 
designer, the tag name will be blank. Select the tag from the drop-down list, 
then set the font (and most other things) to As Is. The best way to do that is 
to use the Command button and choose Set Window to As Is, then modify only the 
feature that you want the character tag to affect. Then Update All.
I don't see why you would want to verify, but to do so, just repeat the first 
couple of steps. It's important to click outside the text, otherwise the 
designer will show the characteristics at the insertion point.
