I agree with Alison. I also use a FRAME > PDF > WORD option so personnel can edit the docs. They prefer to use something other than the comment capabilities of Acrobat. Usually, the conversion is relatively good, but I find many issues when scientific/mathematical symbols are used. It can get quite ugly.
Your client has yet to deal with long documents like this in Word. "Drink heavily and then run away" also sounds like a good option. But I always preface my explanation to them with the caveat... "this creates an incredibly ugly Word file". If you do the test run on 20 pages or so (pick complex pages) and do a truly honest quote, I can't imagine why the client would want to continue. But " drink heavily and then run away" is a really good option as well. :-) Alison -----Original Message----- From: Framers <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> On Behalf Of Tammy Van Boening Sent: December 13, 2023 7:51 AM To: An email list for people using Adobe FrameMaker software. <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: Re: [Framers] Regarding "Converting a frame maker document to a word document" Thanks everyone for all the responses. Despite the "death knell" tone, I was 99.9% sure that that was going to be the case. Sigh. I need to reach out to my client and set the expectations and let them decide how badly they want to go down the rabbit hole - and it won't be cheap. I am still sticking with my original solution which is to drink heavily and then run away.
