While we're thinking about "hybrid docs" I wanted to mention Heidi Ewing's brand new feature, out in theaters right now, which is a masterful example. Te Llevo Conmigo, English title I Carry You With Me. It's a true story of two gay men who become a couple in Mexico, and eventually become undocumented immigrants in the US. The first two thirds of their story is re-created with actors, and the last third is fully documentary footage of the real couple. She has made a beautiful film.
