Cecil Starr was instrumental in helping me secure many of the films that I
showed at the San Francisco Museum of Art in the 1999 presentation of the
programs called “Shake the Nation”. This series included many of the Avant
Garde pioneers such as Harry Hay, Sidney Peterson, James Broughton, Harry
Smith, Jane Conger Belson, Hy Hirsh, Jordan Belson, Frank Stauffacher and
numerous other hard prints to obtain. She was a pleasure to talk with and
extremely encouraging when I presented this series tracing experimental cinema
in the Bay Area from 1942 through 1999.

Happy to see this book come out and purchasing it today. Congratulations for
all those who contributed to the book.
