Hi everyone, My European sojourn is coming to a close as The Temenos winds down. I mentioned my "A Synesthete's Atlas" performance with cellist Helena Espvall in Lisbon a month or so ago and am pleased to say that I've lined up five related US performances in the not too distant future (+ more later in the year). I'd especially like to invite East Coasters who aren't wrapped up with The Flaherty to attend upcoming shows in the Boston, New York, or DC areas.
(A Providence program did not materialize but I carved out space for it in my schedule. Anyone in a position to host an event on the 25th or 26th in New Haven, the Hudson River Valley, or somewhere "between" Cambridge and Brooklyn, broadly defined, let's talk.) with saxophonist/flautist/composer Ken Field (23 Jun 2022; 7:30p) In a recently restored historic stone (gun)Powder Magazine on the banks of the Charles! Free but please pre-register. Mass Audubon Magazine Beach Park Nature Center 668 Memorial Dr Cambridge, MA https://www.massaudubon.org/program-catalog/magazine-beach/84147-mass-audubon-presents-a-synesthete-s-atlas with saxophonist/clarinetist/shakuhachi player Ned Rothenberg (28 Jun 2022; 7:30p?) Start time and admission to be confirmed but this is going to be a devilishly inexpensive show by NY standards. Millennium Film Workshop 167 Wilson Av Brooklyn, NY with multi-instrumentalist Jim Ryan and drummer Darien Baiza (30 Jun 2022; 7:30p) I don't think I ever saw multi-instrumentalist Jim Ryan perform when he lived in the Bay Area so it's a funny coincidence we'll be coming together to perform in DC. $10-20. Rhizome DC 6950 Maple St NW Washington, DC https://www.rhizomedc.org/new-events/2022/6/30/erictheisejimryandarienbaiza with composer/performer Carl Stone (15 Sep 2022; 8p) Carl does a solo set; Carl and I do a collaborative set; Samantha Bounkeua (RogueViolin) opens. $20. Indexical Tannery Arts Center, 1050 River St. #119 Santa Cruz, CA https://www.indexical.org/events with oboist/composer Kyle Bruckmann (25 Sep 2022; 7p) Thrilled to finally be doing an event at the Bay Area's gold standard for expanded cinema, and with Kyle Bruckmann who "tramples genre boundaries in widely ranging work as a composer/performer, educator, classical freelancer and New Music specialist." Shapeshifters Cinema 567 5th St Oakland, CA http://shapeshifterscinema.com/ These will all make it into "This Week" and expcinema.org as details get finalized but I'm excited and gratified that a concept that was perhaps dubious four months ago has fired the imaginations of collaborators and venues alike. Cheers, Eric
