lange unerwidert Angebetete findet sich auch auf dem Schiff, und wieder einmal
zeigt sich, dass man die Schwierigkeiten des Lebens gemeinsam besser

Licht und Schatten, etwas Farbe vielleicht, Hoffen auf ein gutes Ende, was
braucht es mehr für einen tollen Film? Die dresdner schmalfilmtage zeigen vom
16. bis 19. März in der Motorenhalle Dresden ganze Programme davon!
Die 23 Programmpunkte und das Festival insgesamt ergeben wieder die 24! Dazu
kommen die 24 Filme in den Wettbewerben, die Bands im legendären Wettkampf um
die beste Live-Vertonung und die vielen Filmschaffenden auf den roten
Teppichen, den Bühnen und in der Lounge.
Der Bogen spannt sich vom Überraschungsfilm am Start über Schätze aus Archiven,
Filmportraits, Gastprogrammen, die Wettbewerbe hin zur Abschlussperformance
STILLFRAME CINEMA von Aga Jarząb & Maciek Bączyk.
Auf ein DDR-Archivprogramm folgt der Found Footage Wettbewerb, bei dem sich 12
Einreichungen Jury und Publikum stellen. Und auf Ann Carolin Renningers und
René Frölkes im besten Sinne eigenartige Dokumentation auf Super 8 und 16mm
"Aus einem Jahr der Nichtereignisse" folgt die NEXT GENERATION, ein Programm
mit Portraits von Radical Thinkers aus der internationalen Kunst- und
Kulturszene in Montagen von Serge Garcia (US/ MX).
Radikal geht es auch beim berüchtigten Live-Vertonungswettbewerb zu! Eine
drastische Entscheidung war es für die Künstler Jan Jedlička und Lumír
Hladík (CZ), ihr Heimatland kurz nach 1968 zu verlassen. Beide werden zu
Gast sein und gemeinsam mit Sylva Poláková (NFA Prag) Teile ihres Werks
vorstellen, Lumír Hladík zeigt Entgleiste Situationen und hält
zudem seinen performativen Vortrag MASTERCLASS.
Das ewig junge COLLECTIF JEUNE CINÉMA (FR) feiert mit einem Programm
seinen 50. und SCIENCE NEW WAVE (INT) verbindet filmisch Erzählen und
Erforschen.
Spannend werden natürlich der Internationale Wettbewerb Super 8/16 wie auch das
von Serge Garcia zusammengestellte Programm von Filmen, die ihn prägten.
Die Performance STILLFRAME CINEMA - Standbildkino, ein intrinsischer
Widerspruch als Titel - wird einen würdigen Abschluss bilden.
Die 24 wird dann Geschichte sein. Für die dresdner schmalfilmtage.

24. dresdner schmalfilmtage - the festival for 8 and 16 mm film

Light and shadow, a little color perhaps, the hope for a good ending, what more
do you need for a great film? From 16 to 19 March, the dresdner schmalfilmtage
are going to present whole programs of it at the Motorenhalle Dresden!
The 23 program sessions and the festival as a whole add up to 24 again! Plus
the 24 films in the competitions, the bands in the legendary competition for
the best live soundtrack and the many filmmakers on the red carpets, the stages
and in the lounge.
The program ranges from the surprise film at the start to treasures from
archives, film portraits, guest programs, the competitions and the closing
performance STILLFRAME CINEMA by Aga Jarząb & Maciek Bączyk.
A DDR archive program is followed by the Found Footage Competition, in which 12
submissions face off against the jury and the audience. And Ann Carolin
Renninger's and René Frölke's documentary on Super 8 and 16mm, "From a Year of
Non-Events", which is peculiar in the best sense of the word, is followed by
NEXT GENERATION, a program with portraits of Radical Thinkers from the
international art and culture scene in montages by Serge Garcia (US/ MX).
Radical is also the name of the game at the infamous live dubbing competition!
It was a drastic decision for artists Jan Jedlička and Lumír
Hladík (CZ) to leave their home country shortly after 1968. Both will be
guests and present parts of their work together with Sylva Poláková (NFA
Prague), Lumír Hladík will show Derailed Situations and also give
his performative lecture MASTERCLASS.
The ever-young COLLECTIF JEUNE CINÉMA (FR) celebrates its 50th with a
program, and SCIENCE NEW WAVE (INT) combines cinematic storytelling and
exploration.
Exciting, of course, will be the International Competition Super 8/16 as well
as the program put together by Serge Garcia of films that shaped him.
The performance STILLFRAME CINEMA - still cinema, an intrinsic contradiction as
a title - will be a worthy conclusion.
The 24 will then be history. For the dresdner schmalfilmtage.
