It looks like the frame advance is out of sync with the shutter, so the pulldown happens before the shutter closes fully (or vice versa, the shutter opens too early)   I wouldnt know the fix as I have never opened up the guts of a bolex, but it definitely looks like something is off with the timing. The odd thing is that it doesnt look like it happens every frame.
If it is just one roll of film, it could have been the pressure plate or possibly one of the loops was too tight or one of the loops failed and was restricting the film advance. .  But if it was a loop issue that would more likely cause this issue at 24 fps, not single frame.  If it was pressure plate it would more likely just be soft.  What is clear here is that for some reason, the image was being exposed while the film was being advanced.

Subject: [Frameworks] Bolex Animation Single frame trouble

Hey does anyone know what would cause my film to do this? I've spent months shooting this roll of film and half the dam shots are ruined. Could this be caused by my pressure plate not being fully down or do I have some other issue? Only seems to happen on single frame shots.
