Pageants are my favorite for 16mm 24fps projection, because they've been
good to me in terms of staying functional and not eating film. Which sadly
wasn't the case with more modern slot loads or (eek!) auto-loads.

The "not the brightest" issue matters though, which is due in part to the
available lenses lacking much in fast options, especially in wider angles.
Also, of course, the older ones have incandescent lamps too. So my pick is
a 250S which uses a quartz lamp. The spec is for an EJL, 200W, but IMHO you
can safely lamp up to an ELC 250W for projecting a short program.

An ideal 16mm projector IMHO would be manual load, gentle with film,
reasonably reliable mechanically, use a bright quartz lamp, and have a
variety of reasonably fast lenses shorter than the standard 2"/50mm
available...
I don't think such a thing exists.
