Hi all, I've been writing "… 30+ North American performances …" in my bio for a while but I've usually rolled it back to the more truthful "United States" before circulating it. I don't have to do that anymore.
I've been in residence in Guadalajara since just before New Year's and I'll give (at least) two performances of my maps-as-expanded-cinema project, *A Synesthete's Atlas <https://erictheise.com/a-synesthete-s-atlas/>*, before I leave at the end of February. I'll perform in Mexico City on 7 March but am working to schedule another two or three shows before then so I'll hold off posting details until I have the full March itinerary. 20 Feb 2025; doors: 7:30p, performance: 8p; donations gladly accepted with Maria Del Carmen Camarena, voice Eliud Ernandes, bass player/livelooping artist/Looperlative endorsee Gustavo Larroyo, guitar Jupiterfab, C. Penitenciaría 660, Col Americana, Guadalajara, Jalisco https://www.instagram.com/jupiterfabresidency/ Maria Del Carmen Camarena is a soprano from Guadalajara with training in Belcanto and a taste for exploring sounds from different parts of the world. Bass player and livelooping artist, Eliud Ernandes, has performed both in Mexico and abroad, receiving awards and recognition from many international institutions. Gustavo Larroyo is a guitar player and art historian who holds a masters degree in the history of Mexican architecture. 21 Feb 2025; doors: 7p, performance: 7:30p; 150$MX with Zyanya Yax, saxophones Chino Ortega, bass Cine Mayahuel, C. San Felipe 726, Centro, Guadalajara, Jalisco https://www.instagram.com/cinemayahuel/ Zyanya Yax is a musician from Guadalajara, Mexico. She participates in different local music projects and has toured nationally and internationally. She has experimented with forms ranging from Balkan and Klezmer to Free Improv. She will be joined by bassist Chino Ortega. The Jupiterfab show will likely be the more experimental and salon-like of the two Guadalajara programs; it's a small, bare bones space. Cine Mayahuel is a dedicated art house cinema, and even though one enters through a building, the theater itself is open to the sky. It's a gorgeous place and I'm thrilled to be performing there. Looking ahead to April, I'll be doing a show with composer/laptop-ist Carl Stone in New Orleans on 5 April, then heading west into Texas and Colorado. Talking to (and being ignored by) a lot of people but nothing's confirmed except 15 April at CO-OPt Research + Projects in Lubbock. Schedule's tight but I plan to pass through Houston, Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and could be lured across the border into Oklahoma. Cheers, Eric
