Dear Frameworks, *DADDY'S BOYS <https://vimeo.com/1117067484?share=copy>*, is a documentary essay that contemplates the question, *How far is Andrew Cuomo from Donald Trump? * I hope its form as well as its content is of interest to members of this list and anyone they care to share the link to the entire film above. It's free and very relevant. Please share any feedback with me, and I welcome, of course, the opportunity to screen this large and discuss it in person.
*Here is its synopsis:* *Daddy's Boys* (33:11) maps the adjacent politics of Donald Trump and Andrew Cuomo through their adjacent boyhoods in Jamaica Estates and Holliswood and their respective relationships with their fathers, Fred and Mario. It connects these figures to the hovering presence of Robert Moses –– whom both Donald and Andrew admire and with whom both Fred and Mario did business –– who is responsible for the Queens in which both Donald's and Andrew's politics took shape. The documentary essay's means of audiovisual exposition is the filmmaker's narrated POV bike rides beginning with his ride from his home, in Jackson Heights, to Donald's and Andrew's boyhood homes in adjacent Jamaica Estates and Holliswood (the heart of the doc), before rolling down from Trump's and Cuomo's car-centric semisuburban origins, alongside Moses's Grand Central Parkway, to contemplate the world below the hill, in Hollis and greater Jamaica, along Hillside Avenue. The video essay draws on the filmmaker's original research in Moses's personal papers; the Power Broker's correspondence with Fred Trump and Mario Cuomo make onscreen cameos as the narration considers Donald's and Andrew's respective admiration and emulation of the planner's authoritarianism. Best wishes, Seth sevenlocalfilm.com
