Just to be fair to Vimeo, and because this list is read by many, I did
just now hear back from Vimeo help, and it is clear that my interchange
with them has been escalated to a pleasant and helpful human being (or a
bot that in acing the Turing test is frighteningly human!), and he
confirmed what I had figured out but was not completely sure of. Vimeo
did not change or suffer a glitch or a hack; sorry about that suspicion.
I just didn't know the consequences of clicking on only people with the
url can access rather than "public." You do that, and you have to use
the longer url that will not be visible to you when you are logged in in
order for it to work for others. My helper also pointed out something
that I already figured out, but that everyone should know, that you
almost certainly do not want "manage/videos," which may show up in your
search bar when you are uploading, in your public urls. Eventually I
will change my new ones to "public" and replace the longer urls with the
shorter ones, so that https://vimeo.com/1192267100/8059868775

The longer two part links have in the past meant that the video is
unlisted/private. Not password protected, just private. So you might
check your settings to see if for some reason your videos with links
in this structureI have either accidentally been marked
private/unlisted or maybe Vimeo defaults to that setting now for some
reason.

Vimeo, to my knowledge, has a new owner. My old links still work, and
did notice that the most recent uploads I created had unusually long
links. Not sure why, however all the links I previous had and the new
ones are working fine.

Apparently Vimeo has stopped working in its usual way and
requires much longer urls to access some videos. If you have
links to your work on Vimeo, you might try logging out and seeing
if they still work. I assume this is a hack or defect and not
intentional, since this will invalidate millions of links all
across the Internet. They make it extremely difficult and
time-consuming to figure out how to contact them. Below are the
new style links for the new work I have just posted, first for
Interactions 29-35 and after that for Revisits 1-4. I hope Vimeo
will return to normal soon. I have also posted this to Facebook.
