Hi Framework folks! Melody here, I am the artistic director of an international filmmakers platform and residency program called *The Weight of Mountains*, as well as a member of the Australian analogue artist run film lab, *Artist Film Workshop.*
I want to share that I am co-organising an academic symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam this December 10, 11, 12 with RMIT University and Fulbright University.... This is a last minute shout out, as we have an open call for papers/screenings/presentations* closing on 5 October, *and it can be an online presentation or in-person with us in Saigon :) Here is a link for more info: https://cargocollective.com/twom/Symposium The link to the submission portal can be found toward the bottom of the page. There are 7 different strands, and there will be a book published next year with contributions under each chapter: - Colonial and Postcolonial Cinemas of Southeast Asia - Memory and the Afterlives of 1975 - Transnational Return - Urbanism and the Cinematic City - Independent Cinema and Alternative Exhibition in Southeast Asia - Landscape, Ecology, and Environmental Cinema - Festival Aesthetics, Slow Cinema, and Global Circulation Some are more relevant to Vietnam, and other strands are more international. *We also have an open call for a film and media curator based on Ho Chi Minh City,* closing 5 October but we are a bit more lenient on that date ourselves. We are looking for a local Vietnamese curator to help guide our international filmmakers who will be in Saigon for 3 months on the residency - if you know of someone who has experience in the Vietnamese film and media scene and who is based in Saigon, please let them know to contact us, we have a small amount of funds to pay for their expertise and consultation :) Info here: https://cargocollective.com/twom/Call-for-a-film-and-media-curator Solidarity in film! -Melody Woodnutt. *The Weight of Mountains - Filmmakers Residency* Vietnam 2 December, 2026 - 28 February, 2027. https://cargocollective.com/twom @twom_film_folk
