Oddball Films is seeking an experienced, part-time film curator for its award-winning weekly film screenings. The ideal candidate should have previous experience curating, handling and projecting 16mm and small gauge film as well as video and digital media. Extensive knowledge of cinema history and genres is a must, as well as experience with publicity and writing press releases. We are looking for a creative, energetic and self-motivated person who can work on a tight deadline.
The weekly series take place in San Francisco every Friday and Saturday night at our archive. As a part-time curator you would have access to Oddball Films’ collection along with all the necessary projection equipment.
Oddball Films is the public exhibition component of Oddball Film+Video, a stock footage company providing offbeat and unusual film footage for feature films like Milk, documentaries like The Life and Work of Dr Hunter S Thompson, television programs like Mythbusters, clips for Boing Boing and web projects around the world. The films used in our programming are almost exclusively drawn from our collection of over 50,000 16mm prints of animation, commercials, educationals, feature films, movie trailers, medical, industrial military, news out-takes and every genre in between. Our mission is to expand the boundaries of cinema by presenting rarely screened genres, avant-garde films and ethno-cultural documentaries. Oddball Films is the largest film archive in Northern California and one of the most unusual private collections in the US.
