Thanks Ken! I will keep this in mind when digitizing next time. I would use a HQ 1080p transfer but over here in the UK I'm not actually sure there is a service. And I'm sure if there is it's going to be expensive. I spent about £40 (including postage) getting 150ft of Super 8 film digitized last week and thats only SD footage as well. Nightmare! I have posted up here about a DIY HD telecine option with my 550D and still plan on building it but am swamped with work at the moment. I would have filmed directly off the wall or board but it's for a client so I felt I had to pay for a digitization. Anyway thanks for the info and for reassuring me that Pro Res 422 (HQ) is the way to go! Appreciate it! Kevin

Furthermore, digitizing to acompressed file will allow you to easily edit without freezing up your system. As for projection quality, I've beenon the road for a year a half with Crooked Beauty--which was transferred on the above specs--and have seenit projected on a the best (and worst) systems, the former in a huge theater on a commercial sized screenand it looked stunning. I spent 3 months researching tech options, and the consensus from all the folks I consulted with was that uncompressed is overkill for super 8 because the frame size only contains so much 'information'. So spend the money upfront during the transfer (I highly recommend sitting in with owner/operator Phil Vigeant at Pro 8) and it will be smooth sailing down the line.
