Mariah,

I would cancel the sale, but I guess it depends on what you paid and what
is included in the package, and
whether you plan to put more money into the package. In general, any used
camera should be fully serviced
to prevent any damage to internal parts and make certain everything is in
alignment.

Motor repairs can be expensive, depending on the damage and which motor it
is. There were something like
15 different motors and modified motors made for the NPR. And depending on
which motor it is, it might not be
worth repairing.

I would guess $300-1000 for a repair, a $1000 or $750 being the cost to
replace it if it's considered dead by a tech.

On of the best companies for motor repairs is AZ Spectrum in Maspeth, NY
(Queens).

There is also...
• Visual Products in Wellington, OH
• Man-sung (of SMS) is still doing repairs out of his home in Chicago

In Los Angeles...
You might try George Zorzoli, he said he would still do repairs for old
customers, however you might need to
inquire if you've not worked with George before... George does rebuilds of
the old Ciblo motor and can do
crystal conversions for non-crystal motors. His prices are generally pretty
good.

Also in LA...
Richard Bennett at Cinema Engineering, if he cannot do it, he likely knows
someone who can, he'll outsource
to other technicians for items he does not specialize in

Alan Gordon has parts but no service

I would probably pass on this camera, there are lots of NPR cameras out
there, and you might be better to
buy from Visual Products or somewhere that can guarantee service

As far as Du-All is concerned, I've never used them. Since George Gal is no
longer running the company, I have
only heard bad things about Du-All.

Good luck, it's a great camera if you find a good one and get it serviced.

Alain
