I think all browsers work, but people are reporting Chrome may work better in 
some situations.

Multiple downloads may affect your downstream speed, but won't affect quality. 
Just download the highest res available.

I can't tell you about sound, but there are analyzer programs that would tell 
you what the characteristics of the soundtracks are. In fact a Mac "Get Info" 
command should tell you this.
