Just wondering... what's the point of this? The 16mm films in the NYPL are still available to everyone at the Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center... You just need to call a week ahead of time and make an appointment... The Reserve Film and Video Collection at the NYPL is still going strong doing preservations and acquiring new work (I believe that they got new prints of a lot of Jack Smith films, they're now holding a few Markopoulos films too)... As far as I know nothing has been deaccessioned or is at risk...
I understand that it's awful that the city sold the building to developers who've done nothing with the space but everything that was once in those walls is still accessible to the public... I never visited the space when it was there, so maybe I'm not the most informed but is a rally five years later necessary? -Alex On Fri, Apr 12, 2013 at 8:55 AM, op <[email protected]> wrote: > Wednesday, April 17th, 12:00 PM > Rally for The Donnell Media Center , lunchtime near MoMA ! > 20 West 53rd Street, 20 West 53rd Street, 5th and 6th. > A beloved main New York City library was sold off through secretive > arrangements in 2008 > to a private developer who went bankrupt and there is still no replacement > library. > > 20 West 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, (meet at 40 West 53rd > St) > > For more info > > https://www.facebook.com/notes/owen-plotkin/a-nyc-treasure-the-donnell-media-center-in-jeopardy-/16377370002 > > > http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=138060 > > > > _______________________________________________ > FrameWorks mailing list > [email protected] > https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks > >
