For anyone near Paris in the next 3 months - or especially next week:

Oskar Fischinger: Raumlichtkunst opens next Thursday, June 20 at Palais de Tokyo, Paris.  It's part of an exhibition called La Fin de la Nuit, which runs to September 9, 2013. Raumlichtkunst, c. 1926/2012, is Center for Visual Music's new HD 3-screen installation, a reconstruction of Fischinger's 1920s multiple projector performances, using newly preserved film from his nitrate originals. At this venue, the projection is 30 feet wide (total, 10 feet each). The HD reconstruction uses digitally restored color, and includes some of his wax experiments and spirals footage, among many other animation experiments and early tests.

Multiple exhibitions open that same night in the centre's Nouvelles Vague series, so if you plan to attend the opening, go to La Fin de la Nuit section, to our black box room. You'll see the wall text for Raumlichtkunst at the top of the hallway leading down to the entrance - past the projection of Eau d'Artifice.

The public opening is at 8 pm, anyone can attend. The exhibition opens the next day for the public during regular hours (often until midnight).  Side note, for those interested, Kenneth Anger will be at the opening, as 2 of his films are in this exhibition (also Puce Moment).
