We
would like to cordially invite you to a special event in support of Songs of
the Ancestors: Stories from the West African Diaspora,
an insightful documentary highlighting the stories of the West
African Diaspora in New York City with a focus on the community of
Griots/musicians that have come to and through New York; their mixing
of traditional and modern in the music they play and the cultural
ramifications, if any, this will have on the future.
This
event will provide a chance for us, the filmmakers, to meet with
members of the community in New York and build capital, both social
and economic, for the finishing stages of this project. We will also
be debuting an extended video trailer for the documentary.
