Malcolm Le Grice: FINITI and other shorts …Sunday Nov 10 6:00pm BROOKLYN FIRE PROOF GALLERY, 119 INGRAHAM ST, BUSHWICK
Malcolm Le Grice gave his first New York show at Millennium in the early 1970’s, followed over the years by other screenings and the famous (or infamous) public debate with film historian P.Adams Sitney. The author of “Abstract Film and Beyond” (1977) and “Experimental Cinema in the Digital Age” (2001), his work has shown shown in major galleries around the world. He makes a rare return to New York for this special one-off screening with Millennium, and to show multi-screen works at Eyebeam in Performa 13. The Millennium program features works not previously seen in NYC including selections from his portrait series (Jonas Mekas at his 90th birthday party in London, Anthony McCall in Dundee, the late Dennis Openheim); a recent digital work, “Digital Aberration”; an early double projection version of “Berlin Horse” with music by Brian Eno; and the world premiere of a NEW version of ‘FINITI’ (originally a six screen video at Tate Modern in 2010).
