I'm going to purchase a new 27" iMac for editing video this weekend and have
several questions:

1) 256GB or 512GB SSD internal drive? All my media will be stored on external
drives. So will the more affordable 256GB be enough to handle everything else?
PLEASE NOTE: There's a ton of information on various forums about Fusion drives
wreaking havoc on audio interfaces, so I'm steering clear of them.

2) Whenever I've brought my laptop in past years for repairs, Apple has always
raised the possibility of mixed brands of RAM contributing to whatever the
problem at hand might be. It's always seemed like they were just trying to push
their proprietary RAM on me. Regardless, with my new 27" iMac purchase, I
thought I'd remove the 8GB that comes with, then max the computer out with 32GB
of Crucial RAM--or any other brand that folks might suggest. Thoughts?

3) Lastly, best I can gather from reading through tons of forum posts, Final
Cut Pro 7 does not function in Mavericks, but it will function in Mountain
Lion. The new 27" iMacs from B&H still ship with Mountain Lion, but I intend to
purchase direct from Apple as I have a friend who can get me a substantial
discount. I'll call Apple to see if they're still shipping with Mountain Lion
with the option to download Mavericks online. But was wondering if anyone who
recently purchased a 27" iMac received it with with Mountain Lion? And if not,
is it possible to 'down grade' to Mountain Lion?

Thanks, Ken
