Re. Roger Beebe's upcoming tour, it is worth noting that not just the best way--but the ONLY way--to see some of the best work of this important filmmaker is in live performance. His work is communitarian, not just in subject matter, but literally, in exhibition--his work celebrates and needs to be with gathered people. This tour includes a new work, and also the very satisfying major work, LAST LIGHT OF A DYING STAR, which deploys enough projectors to make it a rare, and endangered, experience. Who knows how long he will be doing this touring, even though he does thrive on it.

Does anybody knows besides this Logmar machine when was the last film camera model introduced to the market? I'm sure it would have to be a 35mm/70mm or maybe Super 16? Early 2000s? Early 2000s? Late 1990s? That’s the most recent big film camera launch I remember. But doesn’t it seem like there are kickstarters for new film cameras all the time still? Wasn’t there some Scandanavian s8 camera just a few years ago (that was going to be outrageously expensive)? I think it’d be hard to come up with a definitive list of those smaller products. I tired to look at the super8wiki to see if there was a way to search the cameras by model year, but it doesn’t seem especially easy to do. 2 cents, R. Not just visiting, of course, but hawking my multi-projector wares as part of a 3-month tour of which this is the first leg. Come out and say hello. Those on this first leg will get to see me try to figure out my new 5-projector film as I perform it. More details about what I’m doing are here: http://rogerbeebe.com/films/spring15tour.pdf (Note tour dates/venues at the end of the pdf.) Hope to see some of you out on the road. Of course these aren’t the sorts of cameras most Frameworkers would use, though now they can be found for less than what a tricked-out Bolex used to cost. Aaton A-Minima was 1999. And yes... a lot of the recent activity seemed too ambitious to actually happen. So the Logmar is something rather unique. There's also the LomoKino 35mm, I guess... that's 2011-ish... Best, pablo.
