Hi,

The first event in what I hope to be a series of visual music live concerts at
Dr. T salon (a.k.a. my apartment) is going to happen on Sunday, October 18 at
7:30 PM. These performances will combine my video improvisations shown on two
widescreen TVs, with improvised music by one or two players. Some of the shows,
including this one, who also include improvised spoken word.

The first show of the series will have Tom Plsek, trombone, John Voigt, bass
and spoken word and Karen Klein spoken word. I'm delighted to have Tom and John
join me, as I did my first mixed-media improvisations with a group of John's
that included Tom back in 1973.

Karen is much more recent collaborator, who performed spoken word at a lot of
my Light Into Motion events at Outpost 186. Once I get the logistic kinks
worked out, I'm going to try to schedule about two of these a month.

These events will be free, although 5 or $10 donation would be appreciated, so
I can give the musician something for change. I'll have chips and salsa to
snack on- there is no need to bring anything unless you want to, as I want the
focus to be on the performance.

My apartment is at 382 mass ave, apt 803 In Arlington MA, a few blocks east of
Arlington Center. There is generally ample parking available on mass Ave in
front of or not too far from the building. My phone is 781 439 5314. I hope
some of you can make it. RSVP if you can or just show up.

For those of you haven't don't know about Dr. T's salon, it is a series of
art – related events that I hold at my apartment to encourage conviviality and
artistic sharing. These include a textured percussion jam, an art book
sharing group, a sketching group and the visual music live concert series. Send
me an email if you would like to get notices about all of the salon events
described below.

A textured percussion jam is sort of like a drum circle but much much quieter
and with a focus on intense listening and meditative playing. I have lots of
fun percussion instruments so there is no need to bring any. All skill levels
welcome, and you are welcome to just listen if you're feeling shy. We order
Thai food delivered before the jam. Those of us want to help choose the menu
arrive at 630. We get the food sometime between 730 and 8, eat and chat until
around 845 and then play.

The art book sharing group gives me an opportunity to share my large collection
of art books, and to look at them and discuss them. They may or may not be a
theme for the evening. Either way, I'll pick out a bunch of books to start the
discussion. Attendees are of course welcome to bring art books they wish to
share. We have had three of these and they've all been successful. So far,
these been on Sunday nights at 730. I don't have food at these because art book
viewing and food don't go together very well.

The nascent sketching group is a chance for us to share the process of
sketching, and perhaps make some improvised sketches as a group. It has not
yet met – my original thought was to have it on Saturday afternoons so that we
can move the event to Spy Pond Park if the weather is nice, but the warm
weather is fading fast, so I will probably have it in the evening.
