Center for Visual Music is pleased to announce a new DVD release, *Visual Music (1947-1986) from the CVM Archive: Belson, Bute, Dockum, Engel, Spinello.* Thirteen rare experimental animation films featuring pre-computer abstraction, using a variety of techniques including early oscilloscope experiments, color organs, hand-drawn sound, animation drawn directly on film, painted scrolls, and optical printing. Includes many restored films and new HD transfers. The DVD features Jordan Belson's *Mandala, Chakra *and *Meditation*; Mary Ellen Bute's *Color Rhapsodie, Polka Graph* and *Abstronic*; Jules Engel's *Play-Pen, Mobiles *and *Landscape;* two Charles Dockum *Mobilcolor* performance films from 1952 and 1969 plus his short 1966 documentary about the Mobilcolor projector, and Barry Spinello's hand made, hand painted *Sonata for Pen, Brush and Ruler*.
