The Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College is seeking applications to fill two, one-year positions (with the possibility of renewal) in screen studies. These positions will teach undergraduate screen studies courses such as “Introduction to Film Aesthetics and Analysis” and “Hollywood and American Film.” These survey courses are team-taught, large lecture classes with breakout discussion sections. The anticipated annual teaching load is 24 credits. These non-tenure eligible positions offer full benefits plus travel support for research and conferences as well as opportunities to be mentored in both large lecture and small class settings, online, and blended teaching. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates with expertise in a mix of the following areas: close textual analysis of all film modes, film history, industry studies, international/transnational/postcolonial cinemas, experimental work, documentary, and critical race studies. The successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging the success of all students. We seek candidates who have relevant experience and/or a record of professional engagement with groups and communities underrepresented in the academy. Position/Job Qualifications PhD in screen studies or related field required. ABDs with dissertation defense scheduled no later than August 29, 2018, may also be considered.
