On the smaller scale, I love the approach of young Chinese director by
Liu Jiayin in her "Oxhide II." She made a film about her family life
with her mother, father, and herself by highly structured means: in the
camera, the shots, and the characters. They wrote their parts and
rehearsed being themselves for months. Liu Jianyan said in a Q & A that
the results were much more the "truth" of her family life than any
verité shooting she'd tried.
