1/2 c warm water
1/2 c sugar
1 Tbsp sugar
1/4 c + 2 Tbsp melted Crisco
2 pkg yeast
2 c water
1 Tbsp salt
6 c unsifted flour
1 egg

Dissolve yeast and 1 Tbsp sugar in 1/2 c warm water.  Add dissolved yeast to 
egg, sugar, shortening, water and 2 c flour.  Beat.  Add remaining flour and 
mix to make a soft dough.  Cover dough and let rise until double.  Punch down 
and shape into rolls.  Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden
