Hi ppl, Yesterday and today i've been toying with PearPC & Opendarwin 7.2.1 The reason was that even though some of us have a PPC avaliable to toy with most of 'us' don't.
I've been playing with OSX & PearPC (x86) for a while but found the non-opensource & thread/graphics intensive load offensive for 'normal' x86 emulation use. OpenDarwin provides a good platform for compilation of open source PPC binaries; I find the X-compile tools from Intel machines too cumbersome to play with; I want to open up a small FAQ on the free60wiki for that purpose. One might argue to install Xcode 1.5/2.2 on the OSX PearPC install and/or do some stuf with codewarrior; but it's really too much for the PearPC PPC emulation to handle and possibly too cumbersome for the average user as most of them are PearPC/Apple novices.... I can recommend everyone to take a look at http://www.pearpc.net for the right info, binaries on http://richardgoodwin.com/wp/cvsbuilds.php (0.4pre binary with SDL preferred; it really increased speed) Also grab some HD imagefiles (3Gb+) http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/downloads.html One can download the OpenDarwin iso from http://www.opendarwin.org The result is a shell that produces gcc compliant binaries. Maybe it's a good idea to host a compressed image of a clean Darwin install for PearPC ? Next stop: PPC Debian ( Hi, Ed ! :) ) Note: some people might object that this is all to 'soon'; the current effort proves the opposite to me... I think an Open (Source) X360 will be upon us within months. -- Highspeed-Freiheit. Bei GMX supergünstig, z.B.
