I'ld have to agree, but with a slightly different emphasis. There
comes a time when you should tell your boss "Stop hassling me and
let me do my job!" If you're upset enough to post to a newsgroup,
then that time is probably now (or a couple of months ago ;). The
best bosses I've ever had knew that their sole responsibility was
to clear the roadblocks out of my way so that I could program.
They made a point of not hassling me with deadlines, and letting
me work on whatever (in my task list) needed to be done. Of
course, they had been programmers for quite some time before
moving into management, so they understood much of what I was
going through.

(I tried to find some good references on "The Care And Feeding
 Of Programmers", but couldn't.)

Good luck,
Blake.
