Normally I wouldn't send out any "vote for this" or "sign this petition for
this" messages but this one really hits home for myself and my family. Our
youngest, Andrew, was a patient at Detroit's Children's Hospital for almost 2
weeks shortly after his first birthday. That's why I'm sending along this
message. Pass it on if you believe in this cause too.
Please vote for one of the hospitals listed (it doesn't have to be Detroit's,
although it would be nice and they are in 2nd place right now). Any child (and
their family) unfortunate enough to have to endure a trip to a Children's
Hospital disserves to have a place to go to take their mind off their illness
and be a normal kid for a bit.
You can vote once a day until February 29th. Here is the information and link:
Colgate-Palmolive and Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation have teamed up
this year to help children with Sickle Cell Disease and their families cope
with the pain, fear and isolation of this terrible disease. By providing FUN
CENTERS in hospitals, these children can forget about their illnesses for a
moment and remember how to have fun.

And if you're wondering, Andrew did not/does not have Sickle Cell Disease, he
had infected lymph nodes and then had the incision site for his surgery get
infected. After two surgeries, and almost 4 years later, he's doing just fine.
