I have used a few Acer Laptops on FreeBSD, the latest being my current
Acer 5553g, and for me everything worked mostly allright, i.e. hardware
discovery, power mgmt and things like screen brightness. 
I never use suspend/resume, though, so I cannot comment on that side.
