That's correct. But even if intpm supported the chipset it's not guaranteed that the HWM chip is exposed via SMBus. I haven't used mbmon in a while, maybe there is a way to ask it to try using a different address for LPC (ISA) IO access method. The address could be discovered using superiotool (from ports) and the chip's documentation.
