The difference is that crappy Lenovo firmware (UEFI) neither dumb enough to
ignore the data and just execute the boot record nor smart enough to do
something useful with the on-disk metadata. It also prefers to just fail hard
if it doesn't understand the users intention.

Your best bet is to install a UEFI only system. Failing that you can install a
GPT formatted system with the Lenovo braindamage workaround. I don't know if
the UFS installer supports those configurations.
