            Bug ID: 216009
Summary: Floppy does not work under KVM
           Product: Base System
           Version: 10.3-RELEASE
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: kern
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

My KVM system uses the virtual floppy drive of KVM virtual machines to inject
the network configuration into the guest operating system.

This approach works fine on Linux and Windows Virtual Machines, however FreeBSD
is not able to recognize the Floppy device.

The following messages appears at dmesg:

fdc0: <floppy drive controller (FDE)> port 0x3f2-0x3f5,0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on
acpi0
fdc0: does not respond
device_attach: fdc0 attach returned 6
fdc0: No FDOUT register!

The corresponding qemu command at the Host operating system is called using the
following parameters:

-drive file=/tmp/vm.floppy,if=floppy,format=raw

where /tmp/vm.floppy is a DOS formatter floppy image file.

Thanks for your help and time.

Miguel
