Hi all,
this is probably caused by the firmware.
LSI Chips may use several different firmwares so they show up with
different pci-ids and user different drivers.
The best FW is IR, which needs a special NVRAM Chip onboard and is
capable of Raid.
Most mainboards don't have this chip so IT and SR-Firmwares are
possible. IT is not capable of handling RAID an SR needs a special
binary only part in Linux. Linux has a special megasr driver for this.
IT and IR use mptsas in Linux, mpt in FreeBSD. I don't think there is a
Driver for SR in BSD.
