Hardware is Asus EEEPC 1015PE.
>Description:
o interface alc0 (full dmesg etc see below) works fine,
if the ethernet cable is plugged in during boot.
o if the cable is not plugged in, no combination
of "ifconfig alc0 down, up, <ip-assigment>, etc.
brings it back to work.

a) boot with cable plugged in, everything works -- unplug/replug,
it still works.
b) boot without cable plugged in, it can not be made to work.
