FreeBSD Amnesiac 9.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE #0 r255898: Thu Sep 26

amd64
>Description:
When ntpd is started it logs the following to /var/log/messages:

Nov 14 12:18:43 Amnesiac ntpd[19743]: ntpd 4.2.4p5-a (1)

However when running the same ntpd binary on the command line with --version it
reports:

ntpd - NTP daemon program - Ver. 4.2.4p8

This was causing some confusion regarding what version of ntpd was actually
installed, causing us to initially fail an security assessment.

Is this version discrepancy intentional?
>How-To-Repeat:
1. service ntpd onestart
2. grep "ntpd" /var/log/messages
3. ntpd --version

Compare the output of the two...
