If drm-kmod on 12-stable supports video card located on your laptop, you may want to add CometLake PCI IDs to I2C driver to get touchpad working under X. See r367230 (https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base?view=revision&revision=367230). Or wait for couple of weeks for MFC.
